Most of the fast food chains, like McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Wendy's and Burger King now have a variety of low-calorie options to choose from on their menus.
When you go, know what to order. Don't just go there and look at their menu board. Check the on-line site first. Most of them post the nutrition and calories to all their foods on-line. This way you will know exactly what to order when you get there.
When you do go, keep these things in mind:
Don't order any mayo, dressings, tartar sauce or extra cheese.
Better yet, don't get any cheese at all. One slice of cheese can add 100 calories to your meal.
Use mustard, (very low or no calories) ketchup, salt, pepper, or vinegar to season your foods.
Don't order chicken or fish unless you know its grilled or broiled.
If you go to a Mexican restaurant, order everything "fresco style" which means with a little salsa and no cheese.
Don't get any "extra-value" meals or deluxe, or triple or monster-size. This only means more calories than you need.
Ask questions when placing your order. The staff is happy to help.
And don't super-size no matter how many times they ask you. This could mean 100 percent more calories.
If you order a salad, be sure it has a fat-free dressing, and no toppings.
As long as you are careful, you can eat out in fast food restaurants any time you like.
